Desigual has created Awesome Lab with the Silicon Valley-based accelerator Plug and Play in order to boost innovation in the fashion world, creating the first Spanish acceleration program Fashion Tech.

More than 150 startups from 25 different countries were submitted, after identifying and analyzing more than 800 startups that respond to the proposed challenges.

The selected startups are Vestico, Syrup.tech, SwearIT, Personify XP, Resortecs, Exonode and SXD! and have a period of eight months to carry out a proof of concept at Desigual to respond to the different technological challenges that have arisen in the world of fashion. If they finally meet expectations, Desigual will implement these solutions.

The presentation event included a round table discussion on the challenges and opportunities of large corporations in the face of innovation, and the added value of startups to accompany the transformation of companies towards more collaborative, technological and sustainable models.

Marta del Amo, editor-in-chief of MIT Technology Review in Spain, was the master of ceremonies and moderator of this conversation, with the participation of Desigual’s Technology Innovation Leader, Javier Fernández; the Director of Plug and Play Spain, Jaime de Borbón y Dos Sicilias and the head of Corporate Venturing at ACCIÓ, Albert Torruella.
